About

I don't actually shoot guns often.
My name is Joan.  I am of the millennial generation, though I often identify with Gen X'ers.  I was born in the concrete jungles of Boston and now live in Montana.  I am interested in just about everything and can never seem to find one thing to become the best at.

I'm really not much of a blogger (too lazy) but I'm trying.  I've always wanted to become one of those popular bloggers who make money from all the traffic they get.  But...I will probably never be interested enough.  I'm probably too secretive to ever tell anyone about this blog anyway.  But I will try to get you to buy stuff from my Amazon referral links.  Don't worry, I'm not making money at all because I get zero traffic, ha, ha, ha.

A list of interests and hobbies I've entertained over the years (which may or may not still occupy my time):
==> guitar, scuba diving, snorkeling, rock climbing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, running, writing, reading, drawing, sewing, knitting, programming, Linux, web design, dog training, photography, language, gardening, X-Files, herpetofauna, rodents, dogs, behavior, nutrition, travel...

Random facts:
1.  I love to eat and will try just about any dish at least once.  You may not want to know what I've eaten.
2.  I have pets that have traveled more than many people in this country.
3.  I love to snorkel, even in the open ocean...but take away my gear (mainly, snorkel and mask) and I will be afraid to get in the water.
4.  I did not learn to swim until age 22, and it was the night before my swim test to get into scuba class.
5.  I love to train dogs (and other animals).
6.  I always seem to find parallels between raising dogs and raising kids.
7.  I get cold very, very easily.  Even when it's 85+ degrees out, if the sun suddenly hides behind a cloud I will get goosebumps.
8.  I've got beta thalassemia minor.
9.  I like my steak rare.
10.  I could probably talk for hours about food and/or dog training theory.
11.  I love the idea of making my own everything but lack the drive and follow-through to actually make it reality.
